While some of the original glam rockers of the early 80s were self made based on demand from the customer. Then..... the corporations made all the ones after that. While Motley Crue and Van Halen were visionaries of that Genre and they DROVE companies to produce them because of fan demand... there was no "accident" when record companies made bands like the Bullet Boys. The Bullet Boys would have never made it on their own, they were a product of the machine! They made money and ok music, but if it were not for the machine, they would have never made it.
Then... Nirvana came out and a whole new iteration of the music scene came out based on Nirvana, Sound Garden, etc etc. Rap is the same way now.
MP is not a Motley Crue or a Nirvana.... they are the Bullet Boys and without the blessing of bb.com, they likely would not on the top seller's list
