You obviously have never worked inside a biotech or technology company--both industries are all about equity incentives. The decision as to whether or not to issue options to executives is all about incentives, and has absolutely nothing to do with investment bankers. That's why Congress blessed the concept years ago with the Incentive Stock Options and other sections of the tax code that have been the underpinning of two U.S. industries whose growth has been, and continues to be the envy of the world.
