Three European companies douse hopes for new drugs

LONDON/PARIS (Reuters) - Three of Europe's biggest drugmakers -- AstraZeneca (LSE:AZN.L - News), Novartis (VTX:NOVN.VX - News) and Sanofi (:SASY.PA) -- reported product setbacks on Tuesday, underlining the difficulties of developing new medicines to make up for those going off patent.
