Thanks for the link. I haven't verified the original sources cited. Assuming it is accurate, this is evidence that "organized religion can be toxic", as we agreed.

If the Pope or a Cardinal disagree with the clear teaching of Christ, I will listen to Christ. This is why I am not a Catholic.

If your defense before God will be "but the Pope said..." I wish you well. However, the Pope did not die on a cross for your sins. His blood is not legal tender in the court of God.

Seriously - take a few minutes to consider those 3 passages I listed.
