I would rather hire the person who has overcome obstacles than the one who has never experienced difficulty.
The former is more realistic due to experience and the latter is surprised when things don't fit their concept.
But, I'm also very against comparing one's life obstacles in relation to another's.
Kinda' reminds me of a child crying to it's mother that the other kids got ice cream. Every child born on this planet is born into differing circumstances. Comparisons of "obstacles" and "achievement" are unfair to all.
How can you compare the obstacles faced by one child versus those of another? How can you compare the satisfaction of success of one v. another? Comparison begets division.
