Jul 14, 2005 (streetinsider.com via COMTEX) --The Dow finished 71.50 points higher to close at 10,629 the Nasdaq rose 8.71 points to close at 2,153, and the S&P 500 gained 3.21 points to close at 1,227.
The markets closed out the trading session in the green today as strong earnings, positive economic data, and a decline in oil prices kept investors bullish.
Volume was modest with 2.05 billion shares trading on the NYSE and 1.84 billion on the Nasdaq. Decliners outpaced Advancers today by a margin of 18:15 on the NYSE and by 17:13 on the Nasdaq.
In individual stories, Salton Inc (NYSE: SFP RT$) closed 193.64% higher after making an interest payment and entering support agreements with noteholders. On the downside, Avid Tech (Nasdaq: AVID RT$) closed 26.67% lower after warning for Q2.
Tomorrow, traders will be watching for data on Business Inventories, PPI, Core PPI, NY Empire State Index, Industrial Production, Capacity Utilization and from U of M's Consumer Sentiment report. Business Inventories, PPI, Core PPI and the NY Empire State Index are due to hit the wires at 8:30 A.M. Industrial Production and Capacity Utilization are scheduled for 9:15 A.M. U of M's Consumer Sentiment report is expected at 9:45 A.M.

Priceline.com also announced that it has acquired Amsterdam-based Bookings B.V., one of Europe's leading Internet hotel reservation services, in a cash transaction valued at approximately EUR110 million, or US$133 million.

The markets closed out the trading session in the green today as strong earnings, positive economic data, and a decline in oil prices kept investors bullish.
Volume was modest with 2.05 billion shares trading on the NYSE and 1.84 billion on the Nasdaq. Decliners outpaced Advancers today by a margin of 18:15 on the NYSE and by 17:13 on the Nasdaq.
In individual stories, Salton Inc (NYSE: SFP RT$) closed 193.64% higher after making an interest payment and entering support agreements with noteholders. On the downside, Avid Tech (Nasdaq: AVID RT$) closed 26.67% lower after warning for Q2.
Tomorrow, traders will be watching for data on Business Inventories, PPI, Core PPI, NY Empire State Index, Industrial Production, Capacity Utilization and from U of M's Consumer Sentiment report. Business Inventories, PPI, Core PPI and the NY Empire State Index are due to hit the wires at 8:30 A.M. Industrial Production and Capacity Utilization are scheduled for 9:15 A.M. U of M's Consumer Sentiment report is expected at 9:45 A.M.
