the problem with stop losses is that they actually contribute to creating a crash. if everyone has stop losses in place at all these different levels once shorters rattle the cage a bit a lot of automatic sales start coming through the tape and it creates an involuntary chain reaction
this is similar to what happened to the dow jones in may 2010 last year when it lost like 1000 points within just a few minutes. all the electronic systems were kicking in and selling automatically
