Sorry it took so long to respond, but this required more time than I had. See, it was 75 degrees here yesterday and I had to go outside and play in the sunshine while it lasted.
What programs would I get rid of? The answer is none. However, I'd put limits on nearly every one, and make qualifying for some more strict.
Medicare/Medicaid - necessary, but only for those with no other means of medical assistance, and of course, that would have to be verified.
Social Security - again, keep it...but let those who are paying into it have some say about how it's invested, at least a portion of it - like nearly all retirement plans today.
Unemployment compensation - this is probably the least expensive, and best managed, IMO. It's run by the state (hmmm...wonder why it's so efficient...) and has definite limits. It's also privately funded....see a pattern here?
