Syl, "An eye for an eye..," "What comes around, goes around," "No good deed goes unpunished"..... Why is this so remarkable? Some of it is simply "human nature"... Yet I don't know of any religious system that teaches "an eye for an eye" literally.

Here's an example of a contemporary "eye for an eye"....
Upon conviction of David Westerfield, Danielle VanDam's parents held a press conference. Danielle's mother said she hoped Westerfield suffered in prison, every day, as Danielle, her brutally and savagely murdered child, had suffered. She also said Westerfield was "not human". Does anyone take issue with the comments of the mother, or honestly believe her comments were "not moral", or barbaric? Atho the ACLU might take issue but most others would not. "An Eye For An Eye"....

In any event, the Bible is a metaphor for life, and a literal interpretation is usually an inappropriate interpretation....
