I suspect most of these have an interesting story - e.g. most (all?) of the signal processing patents listed above are from Personal Media Communications, LLC (likely a troll company) and probably surfaced because of the on-going, full scale patent war happening in wireless (and bleeding over into other related areas).

#18 on the list is a Genetech patent - but having looked at it looks fairly basic core technology so difficult to tell why it surfaced. (See Genetech Patent on heavy and light chains in culture )

#12 of the list is a re-issue of a Schering patent - as a reissue it is not a submarine, but probably prep for a lawsuit of some form.

#50 on the list is issued to the US Govt - and one of the inventors is Robert Gallo. ?
