You're not the only vet on this board.
Certainly there are things worth dying for,
and to be blunt - killing for.
But if you think the life of your young son or daughter is a price worth paying to depose an old man like Saddamm, then you obviously don't value their lives as much as I do. And, if you really think the impending war in Iraq is about Saddamm, then
there's no point discussing the matter.
Rich guys like us and our entitled progeny will sit this war out and plan our stock plays as the "game" unfurls. The poor kids in the "volunteer" army will of course share our pain should our financial schemes fall through.
I would re-instate the draft to ensure all America shared the pain equally, but I would add a twist. The conscripts would all be older than 40. Don't have to be 19 to drive a Bradley, Don't have to be 18 to push pallets out the back of C-130's. Don't have to be 17 to be a fool and believe the crap the recruiter tells you. Apparently, many over 50 still believe it.
Been there - done that.
