The dealership still has the frame. Two weeks ago they told me they were waiting for a call from Marysville telling them what we already know. That they need to ship it to Marysville so a replacement can be sent. The guy I just talked to said he'd be calling them himself today to try to get this expedited.
It's not a repairable problem. The top frame rail is completely separated from the bottom just under the seat. It was one good pothole or aggressive launch away from becoming a potentially-fatal two-piece bike.
Still a potential 2-3 months more of waiting.
I'm trying to work out the logistics right now of picking up my new 2005 BMW K1200 LT today. I'll just have to deal with the Honda when/if it finally gets out of the shop, then after I've gotten rid of it, explore all possible legal avenues. I really think this has the makings of a strong class-action suit since the frame weld recall has had a huge impact on the resale value of every GW made from 2001 through 2004.
