i don't think that is unreasonable at all. the rub is how the hell do we pay for them? Since presently we, that have insurance, pay for it all.



actually, the Medicaid program pays for those who cannot afford insurance....but, the system is abused and has to be revitalized....

and, the catastrophic part of the "equation" is also simplistic and very "do-able".....

the rub is that Medicare is the largest single payer in the nation and NOTORIOUSLY does not pay the appropriate amounts for doctors services, lab, hospital costs, and other sundry medical services.....

that gap or shortfall is abated by "over-charging" the private carriers for the same procedure....hence, our private rates go thru the roof....

couple the above with the corporate cronyism among the insurance companies and politicians and we have the recipe for a mess....

we almost have to wipe the slate clean and start over....

but, IMO.....private companies should be the heart of the insurance program....NOT the government....

and, the nonsense about not insuring/paying across state lines only adds fuel to the mess we already experience....
