I agree, I think increasing cost of fossil fuel already impacts the cost of food. Terrasphere looks like a good idea, but I wonder if there are two things against it. The first is that it appears very labor-intensive, the second it that in order to get year-round crops in many places, artificial light and heat must be supplied, bringing back the issue of the cost of fossil fuels. What interests me about COIN fertilizers is that they are still organic fertilizers, but are made from waste food, rather than from animal waste. I don't know too much about the process, but think that if high heat and drying are involved, it should cut down or eliminate disease bacteria. I know that animal waste is supposed to be composted before using, but there are a lot of variables in the process.
