no ergo -- the government the founders gave us is magnificent in concept -- we will celebrate the birthday of the country tomorrow -- a country that has endured because of basic truths that are contained in the founding documents

I posted earlier today on the cost of liberty paid in blood at Gettysburg

but those deaths can also be attributed to the appeasement of the founders to South Carolina which would not agree to the Union and the Constitution unless the right of slavery was maintained

The cost to the nation of that compromise is incalculable

When to compromise and when to go to war are difficult decisions

But we can say -- never compromise with evil -- the price to be paid in the future will be horrendous
