Yep for Will Robinson who might panic at an alarm, or make the poor decision to try to find it and put it out, that could do more harm than good if it was a small fire.
The CareBot called the fire dept. while it was informing Will of the problem.
If the elder is accustomed to routine direction from the CareBot (take your medicine, feed the dog, etc) it would be likely to respond to this command without panic. The CareBot would also assure him that the fire department had been called already so he wouldn't have to try to multi task, he would just LEAVE THE HOUSE.
It's too easy to confuse a lot of elderly people. Even younger people who are not disabled make bad decisions in a stressful or emergency situation.
By the way, I disabled one of my smoke detectors because it kept going off when I was cooking. My renters have done the same. A CareBot would have the ability to differentiate depending on the situation.
