I'm loving the grass-roots support and creativity for SMKY marketing - thanks to all the posters offering assistance. While there are logistical distribution and advertising issues in targeting independent stores at our stage, an independent store contact can always lead to the store's distributor being willing to carry and rep SMKY's brand so it's clearly worth the effort.
We have already begun to send samples to wholesale & foodservice distributors, and the product spec sheets are available to those of you who would like to present our salmon to your favorite store. Just send me an e-mail and I'll forward the file for you to print out. When a store shows interest, we'll first need to know who the distributor is they buy through. And, hey, if your store contact ends up getting us into a regional distributor, we can certainly tie you in to a commission stream as we would a professional broker!
