Echoing winchem, "determining" is all throughout the 886 patent - but more interestingly the use of "separation" is used in the description in the text that may be central to Amphastar's objection. (Reminder - Amphastar objected that the particular claim of the patent that called out HPLC was invalid because, per Amphastar, in the patent application process Momenta had said that HPLC was not accurate enough).
In particular the language in the description says that CE is a superior separation method to HPLC.
