The area that they found the Atocha has emeralds they find along with other treasures. What someone has said is the Atocha never had emeralds on the manifest of what they were carrying back to Europe. I am only repeating what someone else has stated. The Spanish records of what was being shipped, apparently emeralds were not on the list of the Atocha, if and it's a big if they weren't then most likely they were contraband aboard the ship. only my opinion nothing more.
