I am not dissing TA. TA may work for a certain class of stocks.
What I have in mind, as a first cut, is volatility. If Beta>1.25 , for example, I don't use TA.
Mnta imo belongs to a class of event driven stock (current beta from yahoo is 1.41) so I would never use TA.
If I would ever think of getting into a dividend yielding stock, which I believe has a lower beta (beta <1) ,I would use TA. After all, when I buy a stock for its yield, one of the key component is YOC (yield on cost ), the lower the cost the better.
