OK, now you got me to. What is this tape-in thing. The word tape-out has been an anachronism for decades now so I can't believe they would develop a new word based on it that has any real meaning. Tapeout is currently the process of transfering the mask data via network from the design folks to the people that build the plates used in the factory. It usually takes a couple of weeks to build the first plates and then the first run can start. Depending on process maturity and complexity the first silicon can come out between 2 weeks and three months after the first plates are in the factory. FYI, Alan
