north dakotans are very proud of the bank of north dakota. it is like a socialistic bank that is oddly in a place that is wildly conservative. They have kept wall street off their backs and aren't beholden to the big banks, they partner with them.
Whether that is a good thing politically or not is up to the reader, but it is sure an example of where using government for good, and mildly in competition with the private sector has kept their economy stable. and as they pointed out, the bank makes more than the oil revenues. It is such a successful anomaly, that other states could do it to, but they would be unable to convince the greedy banks to partner with them, as they prefer all the profits for themselves.
