[Image by Getty Images via @daylife Apple has slashed iPad orders by 25%, according to research report from JPMorgan Chase picked up by Bloomberg News late Sunday. Apple has scrambled to keep up with demand for the latest version of its iPad tablet computer, which went on sale March 10. During the quarter ending in June, Apple sold 9.25 million iPads, a 183 percent unit increase over the year-ago quarter. Apple’s rivals, meanwhile, have stumbled. Research In Motion shipped just 200,000 PlayBook tablets during its latest quarter, down from 500,000 during the prior quarter. HP did even worse: pulling the plug on its TouchPad tablet just weeks after the device’s launch. Apple’s move could have a major impact on companies building iPads for Apple, including Hon Hai Precision Industry. U.S.-based JP Morgan analyst Mark Moskowitz, however, still estimates Apple will sell between 10.9 and 12 million iPads this year.
