At the very least it is manipulating a system that was designed to reflect how many people follow you based on the substance of your posts.

It was designed so people can maintain a list of Favorites for quick access to their profiles and have iHub track when they make new posts since the last time it was reset. The reasons for doing vary and by no means are limited to "substance of posts".
