I haven't looked at Response' ASCO presentation yet, but yes - RT PCR and digital PCR can be good alternative tests for EML4-ALK FISH test if the translocation border points (the bridge) are well defined (although my choice would be CGH cause it gives more information). And yes, you can do all 3 at the same time however, you would still need to divide the tumor sample to 3 - each for every test (EML4-ALK, EGFR, KRAS) which was my initial point - sufficient specimen for all tests. Btw, in the future with next gen sequencing, it will be possible to use the same sample for multi tests, but this is still in the research phase and not good enough for clinical diagnosis (not to mention the price).
