I don't know if Cousin Brucie is just famous in NY or if he is known country wide but he just got fired (along with all of the dj's) on a NY oldies station and now it looks like he got a new job.

Satellite radio, perhaps the newest of the next big things, is looking to its roots. Specifically, Sirius Satellite Radio (nasdaq: SIRI - news - people ), which on Thursday announced it was signing a voice familiar to listeners "of a certain age" who grew up on New York City top 40 radio: Bruce "Cousin Brucie" Morrow. The DJ was one of a raft of people suddenly axed by New York City's WCBS-FM radio station, which abruptly did an about-face in strategy after more than 30 years as Gotham's oldies station. Led by Chief Executive Mel Karmazin, a longtime radio industry veteran, Sirius has been busily assembling a diverse stable of talent as it attempts to close the subscriber gap with market dominator XM Satellite Radio (nasdaq: XMSR - news - people ). Names signed by Karmazin's company include Howard Stern, due to start at the orbital broadcaster in January 2006, when his contract ends with Karmazin's previous employer, Viacom (nyse: VIAb - news - people ); balladeer Jimmy Buffett; and Martha Stewart, who'll help craft a 24-hour channel geared toward the home. It seems no accident that the Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia (nyse: MSO - news - people ) founder is seizing an opportunity in the new medium. The gracious-living maven is nothing if not media-savvy; she'll soon be working on her own spinoff of General Electric's (nyse: GE - news - people ) NBC hit The Apprentice--with the benediction of Donald Trump himself.
