There is a difference between some insider buys and other insider buys .

Absolutely. I'm sure more often that not it is just for show. (Of course, you can never know the answer for sure.) I don't buy biotechs based on insider buying. But, if I'm long a biotech for other purely fundamental reasons and it just so happens that an insider is buying as well, then all the better as far as I'm concerned. Insider buying is certainly no guarantee of future success for the company and stock, though, of course.
