Banker, if that's the case, then it only indicates that AMD has 92,000/(92,000+797,000) = 10.348% of the 64-bit x86 server market, but this is bound to shrink as Intel sells fewer 32-bit Xeons and more 64-bit Xeons (it has already shrunk substantially when you figure that AMD once had 100% of the 64-bit x86 server market <g>). Out of the entire 1.6M unit server market (which does not include Celeron or Sempron sales, like you assumed earlier), AMD's 92,000 Opteron sales represents 92,000/1,600,000 = 5.75%.
By the way, are you surprised that Intel is still selling 1,600,000-797,000-92,000 = 711,000 units of their older Prestonia based platform? It shouldn't be that surprising, since Intel only started their 64-bit ramp 2 quarters prior to this Q1 data. I don't think they "officially" announced a 64-bit cross-over, but this data certainly suggests it happened last quarter. Even by Intel standards, it's a pretty substantial ramp to get a new platform crossed over within 2 quarters of a first ramp.
