O/T: Well, you are probably right about getting the jobs. I'm sure that the good students probably do get the good paying jobs right out of school.

But they still have to perform. Guess what got them to the point of obtaining their job? Their educational requirements, not their work experience.

In other words, their potential.

To begin to realize their potential in the world of law, they must then go out and prove themselves to their employers. Typically, they will start out at the lower end in such a situation.....and work hard to develop their potential, with the hope, perhaps, of someday making partner.

But they will encounter a lot of obstacles along the way, including competition from other lawyers who are pursuing the very same goals within the firm.

So they must then realize a good deal of their potential to be finally considered a success in the real world of law.

And then, only then, might they put themselves in position for the success that they have anticipated, for partner.

Its a long road to get there....generally requiring many years.
