Joan I know. I don't know what the answer is. All I know is people change because they are forced to change and although our kids are products of their environment, a parent never feels like they can do enough to get them ready for what lies ahead.

When I was a teen my father told me that one day I would like country music. I told him that ACDC, KISS, and Ratt would do just fine and that I would never like that twangy stuff he listened to. He said no, you'll like country music one day. My favorite Pandora station today is Outlaw Country with George Jones, Waylon, Merle Haggard, etc. Although I still love hard rock too, I'm not sure exactly when I became a country music fan but I do know my daddy was right. Nobody knows what time their kids will change but all I can trust in is that they will, because my daddy said so. Someday they will value the same things we do, look at things the same way, and tell their kids the same things we tell ours.

the government cannot give anything to anyone -- that they have not first taken away from someone else.
