It's all about escalation, I think.

Perhaps the opportunity Mr. Hughes is suggesting to Samsung will be revealed when the DOJ documents demonstrate Samsung was an accomplice to the alleged antitrust conspiracy against Rambus.

If such evidence exists and is available to Rambus, no doubt Mr. Hughes will give Samsung a last chance to avoid being added to the AT suit.

Imagine the first of the two suits today placed the noose around Samsung's neck and the second suit tightened the Hangman's Knot. But it is the AT suit that will decide Samsung's fate.

Just my opinion.

P.S. You can bet our newest BoD Member, Judge Abraham Sofaer, weighed in on the decision to pursue Samsung in the courts, and had an attentive audience in Messrs. Tate and Hughes. Comforting thought, isn't it? ; )
