Why are you complaining that the employee pay is not higher? That would make product higher cost.

IP is critical.

When the IP is controlled by the company it controls the prices. Why? Because only the raw material and labor can be jacked up and those contracts can be renegotiated.

When a third party supplier owns the IP if that product is successful, the IP owner will eventually want to play the dominant role in the market to the detriment of shareholders. Why? To make more money from selling their own IP direct to the consumer.

The economics aren't that hard to understand.
