MT, this is a bit of an oversimplification but, from a TA viewpoint it's really not important why a stock's price moves, but how it moves.
To be more specific, sure, companies use meetings and such to try to jack up the price of their shares. But, within the market as a whole there are always interested parties working to move prices up or down, both for specific issues as well as for the overall market.
What TA asks is To what degree are "they" succeeding in moving price?
