SilverSurfer -- earnings are (effectively) taxed plenty low enough, in fact too low, as it is -- and seems you haven't heard of the filibuster and otherwise been paying attention the last couple of years -- though it is true that the corporations have been doing just fine since Obama was sworn in, which makes the rabid opposition to Obama and the Democrats of many corporate leaders in the meantime all the more ridiculous in context
it is past time for (a rational) government to say to the corporations, put that ~$2 trillion you're sitting on to work (including in particular by putting some of those profits into better pay for your workers), or we're gonna tax a bunch of it away from you and put it to work creating needed demand ourselves
