Congradulation on a nice positive trading year. 2002 was not an easy year for "trading" as far as I know. I personally know many proprietary professional traders who were struck out during 2002.

In terms of "trader" status for tax return purpose, IRS requires the trader to substantiate at the least the following: 1) one spends "full time" time and effort 2) trading is a primary means of trying to make a living. From what I have read, I do not think you qualify for tax return purpose as a "trader".
