GN has been highly influencial in Repub circles for many years - his name is attached to those who selected Sarah Palin for McCain in 2008...Palin fit his ideal candidate profile!
Until recently, the Koch bros operated in the shadows as they spread their $$$, read: influence, around to Repub pols - their cover was blown when WI's gov Walker screwed WI citizens.
I am sure there are more we don't know about, yet - it is no coincidence so many Repub governors turned on their citizens and actively push the conserv agenda:
