FDA’s safety update on silicone breast implants:

Up to 70 percent of all women who received surgery due to disease or trauma, and up to 40 percent of those getting an enlargement procedure using silicone, needed another operation within 10 years, post-approval studies showed.

Although the above figures are upper bounds to the wide ranges seen in AGN’s and JNJ’s post-marketing studies, the figures are nevertheless shocking, IMO.

Breast implants comprise a small portion of AGN’s business and a minuscule portion of JNJ’s, so this information is not market-moving.
