Actually, they WOULD get SOME money from the show. I think Odessey got over $1MM from the episodes in 2009 that they did. We're not talking a lot, but it could be enough to keep the boats running entirely from the proceeds of the reality series. 
that would be nice. Then all the artifacts (When FINALLY sold!) would go as an operating profit instead of back into the expenses. I don't think of $1MM as much money for a company, but in this case it could make a difference in the operating budgets.
