Five years is a lot of time for the other players in the FoB space to develop similar abilities to Momenta…

I strongly disagree. Even if other FoB players had expertise in this field comparable to MNTA’s (which they probably don’t), MNTA’s technology is protected by an array of patents. It may close to impossible for other companies to produce a fully substitutable biogeneric without infringing on MNTA’s patents; thus, MNTA may be able to garner a piece of the action from anyone who wants to be a player in this arena via IP licenses.

p.s. Don’t forget that Teva has been working on a Lovenox generic for eight years without success, and most biologic drugs are considerably harder to replicate than Lovenox.
