Facebook Marketing Research.

So I did some research last night to check the potential market reach that SMVI could have with pet owners. If this was my website, social, and "groupon' type niche, I would obviously market it on other social sites since this demographic is already trained to do operate a social network and most users check facebook on avg of 15-20 times a day.

With over 500,000,000 Monthly users, it obviously is the one I would market to.

So I researched out the ad program on FB, always on the right side when you log in. It basically feeds off all the interest and likes and things you put in your comments etc and then allows companies to market to you based on those interest.

The cool part is when you start an ad campaign, FB tells you your potential market reach, See Below:

Now the way the ads work, is you set a budget per click. However many clicks you get in a day, they deduct from your account. When your account limit is reached, they pull your ad for that day. I have ran quite a few of these and very familiar with the process.

Since it's target market on FB is over 10,000,000 you can imagine even with a 1% rule for marketing it would be quite costly to reach the market without a lot of funds to properly market the new sites and PR.

That initial cost may be high, but if they develop an app that syndicates their social site and coupons into Facebook, it could go very viral, very quickly.

But if they reach 1% of 10,000,000 people already on FB and have noted interest in "pets" on their FB page, you can see the potential with a marketing campaign like this.

I just don't see another way to market this product. Part of me wants to believe they need to raise capital to fund their marketing once they launch the website.

Just a thought.
