My family might be a bit more "colorful" but yours apparently has more green$ ... I've never made much money; resource/social worker type now in a cancer center; LOTS of people/patient contact; I bring in NUMEROUS speakers on complimentary/alternative wellness; we have weekly Yoga; weekly meditation groups; monthly support activities; etcetcetc
They've nicknamed me "the johnny carson of classes" as I host numerous programs and always do an "unscripted monologue" welcoming people, chatting a bit, etc .... lots of laughter and by the end of the evening of ALL of my classes etc, there is a sense of "belonging/community" - my "intentioanl self deprecating humor" is related to ... i.e. "how many came to last weeks class?" hands go up (average 140 people in some of the series') and of course I say "folks, there are your slow learners. If you'd actually integrate the crap we're teaching into your lives you wouldn't need to keep coming back to these classes!"
our hospital is under tremendous financial pressures, and my "non regulated position" is "safe and secure" as I've created a presence within our community .. I've been "blessed"/lucky etc
