But why would they short it if they knew that come Monday (probably before the date they'd have to cover), we'd have a settlement? Someone else just said 'I'm sure those who know already have a ton stashed away at a low pps', but think about it:

If you were someone privy to this information on Wall St., and even if you have say a few mil WAMUQ tucked away, and you KNEW a settlement to the tune of one dollar PLUS PPS, wouldn't you do ANYTHING to get more shares in the meantime? Get a damn home equity loan to dump into WAMUQ? Sell your car / wife / kids into slavery to dump as much as possible in before EOD?
