should I care at all what the Catholic church thinks

I haven't seen Scorese's "Gangs of New York" but I assume there is scene where Catholics die in front of the old St Patricks Catheral in downtown Manhattan for the right to practice their religion and way of life in the 1850's. It feels vaguely familiar to me as the many Irish-American firmemen who gave their lives selflessly on Sep 11 not too many blocks away in lower Manhattan in the attempt to save the lives of total strangers.

So just remmber if the major Cardinals in US is absently silent on going to war with Iraq, it will be first time in my lifetime or maybe in history of US that Cathloics bishops didn't line up behind the President's call for war.
