The people of the United States are capable of watching airliners crash into the Twin Towers on their televisions and after grave and deliberate concentration can sometimes conclude that they have seen something evil. But it ends here. Anything less graphic or abstract will throw them. Nor do I want them to ponder that which is not as concrete – they will hurt themselves.

We are a democracy as are the ‘velvet revolutions’ because polls and ballot boxes are in view. This they have seen with their own eyes, that is all that is needed.
