The thing about these hedge funds is there is no transparency. I do not think anyone knows just how much damage may or may not be done and what effect it will have on the markets. It is estimated that hedge funds control somewhere between 30-40% of the market action. Other estimates include somewhere between 6000-8000 firms globally with net assets just over or under $1 Trillion (at least I believe these are the last estimates I heard)...
