Callon Says CFO Weatherly Has Died; CEO to Assume Responsibilities Until Successor Named


NATCHEZ, Miss. (AP) -- Oil and gas company Callon Petroleum Co. said John S. Weatherly, its senior vice president and chief financial officer, passed away on Thursday.
Chairman and Chief Executive Fred L. Callon will take on Weatherly's responsibilities until a successor is named, the company said.

"John has been a part of our management team for a quarter of a century and has been an important contributor to our current success," Fred Callon said. "Our deepest sympathy and condolences are expressed to his family; he will be greatly missed by all of us." Weatherly joined the company in 1980.

Callon Petroleum shares closed earlier down 96 cents, or 6.4 percent, at $13.98 on the New York Stock Exchange.
