Darn puts seem too steep of a premium for me when I look at the china companies.
But LFT was liquid enough for me to short it pretty easily when I tried (shares readily available).
I got squeezed out of a DEER short earlier in the year though and was not too happy so now often call my broker directly to ask how many shares they have available to short so I don't get forced to cover right away.
If they have a decent chunk (say ten thousand shares or more) then the decision is easier to short than say 1000 shares or less depending on price of stock of course.

Hopefully we'll get something definitive (as far as news/reason/clarification for halt) tomorrow.
