Dentsply International Appoints Chief Executive Gary K. Kunkle Jr. Chairman


YORK, Pa. (AP) -- Dentsply International Inc., a maker of dental products and instruments, appointed vice chairman and chief executive Gary K. Kunkle Jr. chairman, the company said Wednesday.
Kunkle succeeds John C. Miles II, who served as chairman for about seven years and will continue as a company director.

The company said Kunkle was named chief executive in 2003, after joining Dentsply as president and chief operating officer in 1997 and being elected to the board in 2002. Kunkle also serves on the board of Perrigo Co., one of the country's largest manufacturers of over-the-counter pharmaceuticals.

Dentsply shares rose 61 cents to close at $56.19 on the Nasdaq.
