GTECH to Lease 200 Gaming Machines to Harrah's Casinos for $5.8 Million
WEST GREENWICH, R.I. (AP) -- Lottery machine maker Gtech Holdings Corp. on Wednesday said it struck a $5.8 million deal to lease gaming machines to Harrah's Entertainment Inc.
The company also said it plans to collaborate with Harrah's on developing casino projects in regions that are considering legalizing gambling, including Kentucky's Turfway Park, which is partly owned by Gtech and Harrah's. Gtech added it would also support a proposed Narragansett Indian casino in Rhode Island.
Under the deal, Gtech -- whose client roster includes California, Texas and New York state lottery systems -- said it will lease 200 gaming machines to Harrah's, which operates some 25 casinos in 12 states.
Gtech shares rose 12 cents to close at $26.24 while Harrah's shares were up $1.18 to $67.58 Wednesday on the New York Stock Exchange.
