The State of Texas is cutting funding to our little school district where I live (One 4A High School, 2 middle schools, 4 elementarys) anywhere from $2.6M to $3.7M... we don't know the exact number because the legislature hasn't finalized their plans, but it will likely be the higher end.

Meanwhile the Governor and Republican legislature is totally in the pocket of oil & chemical, insurance, and banking interests... trying to hide the fact that they have "managed" the State, which Ann Richards (Gov. before Shrub Bush) left in a budgetary surplus of some $20B+, into an $18B budget shortfall, basically equal to California.

Our Governor, who Molly Ivins use to call "big hair Perry" (LOL), is an embarassment, and our legislature is a joke.

Sam Rayburn is rolling over in his grave.
